Hotel Imperialart ****

Hotel Imperialart, which opened in summer 2010, is unique in Merano. Mr. Strohmer, the Landlord, created a real "work of art" with the first Merano Art Hotel keeping the original Art Nouveau façade from 1899.

A hotel with a history

Originally an imperial/royal delicatessen and confiserie shop had been located in the house in Freiheitsstrasse 110. The Café Westminster - later on called Café Garni Imperial - made the house famous as a popular meeting point for the intellectual elite of Merano and it so took part in writing the town's history.

Actually "only" the dependance of the Hotel Europa should evolve here. But from the analysis of the history of this house the idea had been born to combine architecture with modern art, thus to carry on with the history and tradition of the house.

This concept was then successfully realised by the three artists from Merano Ulrich Egger, Elisabeth Hölzl and Marcello Jori together with Harald Stuppner, the architect, and Mr. Strohmer, the owner.

Residing at the Hotel Imperialart

Each of the 11 rooms and suites at the Hotel Imperialart has been designed individually by one of the artists and offers modern interior design with great comfort. For those guests who prefer also on their vacation lots of room, two penthouses with roof terrace are at their disposal. There is also the choice of an appartment with fully equipped kitchen.

The Hotel Imperialart stands out for its central position at the centre of Merano. The old town of Merano, the Kurhaus, the art gallery Kunst Meran with exhibitions of contemporary art and the thermal spa of Merano are only a few minutes from the hotel.
