Holidays in Algund

Algund is situated at the exit of the Vinschgau north-westerly of Merano. The various village districts are scattered throughout the plain between Texelgroup and Vigiljoch.

Algund is one of the oldest settlements of the Meranerland, which is documented by finds of menhirs and shell stones in Algund. Well worth seeing are also the old parish church S. Hippolyt and Erhard, the new parish church S. Joseph and a few more smaller churches located in the various village districts.

The brewery Forst (founded 1857), one of the biggest breweries in Italy, is situated in the village district Forst and it is possible to make a guided tour through the brewery.

From Algund there is a chairlift to Vellau within the Texelgroup and a cable car to the district Aschbach, which is located at an altitude of 1.350 m below the Vigiljoch (1.793 m). And the Marlinger Waalweg, the Algunder Waalweg or the Plarser Waalweg are beautiful walking paths for very nice walks through the scenery of the Meranerland.
